Every figure on SalariesByCity is a statistical estimate, not a measurement of any individual's pay. Salaries, percentile ranges, employment counts, and price-level adjustments are intended for orientation and research only. They do not represent an offer, a promise, or a prediction of what any individual will be paid. Actual compensation varies with experience, education, employer size, industry, role level, negotiation, and current market conditions.
How Our Figures Are Sourced
Our wage data is the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) May 2025 release. Every salary figure on the site (median; 25th, 75th and 90th percentile annual wages; employment) is the BLS estimate for the named occupation in the named metropolitan statistical area, state or the nation, as published in the BLS data files. Where BLS suppresses an estimate, the value or page is omitted rather than modeled. Each page states the BLS occupation code it uses in its source line. Price levels are the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis regional price parities (all items; United States = 100), matched to each metropolitan area by the same area code BLS uses for its wage data.
Accuracy Limits
BLS OEWS figures themselves are survey estimates with their own sampling error and reporting lag (typically released annually, covering the prior survey period). Price levels are U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis regional price parities (all items) for whole metropolitan areas and states; they will not match any single household's budget, and they cover prices only, not taxes. The site does not estimate pay after tax. Because of these layers, figures can differ materially from a specific job posting or paycheck.
